Scheduling & Rescheduling – When you call to schedule, there are 3 things we’ll do on the phone:

1. We’ll schedule your portrait session for a time that’s convenient for you. You will have just around an hour with Kirk for your portraits. That usually includes all indoor or all outdoor. For outdoor portraits, you can choose from urban alleys, St. Paul or to the river by Afton, tall grasses or one of the parks in Woodbury. Portrait sessions are available from 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. (The studio isn’t normally open evenings or weekends, but if that’s all that works for you, Clark is happy to open the studio up for you for an additional $100.)

2. We’ll schedule a second appointment, inviting you back to the studio 7-10 days after your session to view your images and place your order. This appointment is usually 1 and half hours. View and order appointments are available from 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.

3. Lastly, due to the high demand for Kirk’s creative time, we ask for a $200 refundable reservation deposit to hold and confirm you appointment. It’s entered as a credit to your account and all of it will go toward your portrait order. It simply ensures you will arrive at the time you’ve reserved. Your deposit is refundable up to 21 days before your session. Things come up; we understand. We’re happy to help you find a time that works better for you, and your $200 reservation from the original appointment will fill follow you to your new one.

Session Prep — It’s normal to have questions. There are our most asked ones, and the answers. If you still have questions or need assistance, we’re just a phone call away at (651) 730-7533 or we can set up a time to chat in person about what your expectations are.

What should I wear?
Families—Every family has it’s own personality, but it’s still a team. Like a team, you will look like you belong together when you dress in similar tones. A family portrait that has everyone dressed in jeans and brown tops will go through time and look better than a portrait that has one person in white, another in brown, and some in yellow. The human eye will always go to the lightest thing in the portrait first, and we want that to be your faces. Long sleeved, solid, dark colors always create rich looking images.
Children—When we’re photographing children alone, bring several options. A white sundress for girls and a white shirt with denim bottoms for boys is always great. Bring favorite outfits or activities that show your little one’s personality. Keep in mind that the more patterns or graphics the clothes have, the more attention they’ll take away from your child’s face.

What can I bring?
You don’t have to bring anything, but Kirk’s photography is unique because he works hard to bring out your personality. Much of which involves activities, hobbies, and likes.
We’ve photographed families and children with animals, cars, four wheelers, motorcycles, and more. When you bring your likes it makes your session different from others. Whatever you come with, Kirk will create something great for you!

How do I get the images I want?
Kirk will take 70-90 images. For families, that includes everyone together and break outs of just the kids, just mom and dad, and individuals. If you have a specific likes or wants, please share them with us when you schedule your session. Kirk is great at making them happen—he just needs to know about them. More than anything, Kirk wants to make sure you get portraits you’ll love. He works hard to capture a variety of expressions and moods.

What if it rains or there is bad weather?
If the weather looks questionable, please call before you leave. We’ll decide if we need to reschedule the outdoor photographs. Regardless, we can still do the indoor images. Keep in mind summer and autumn showers come and go quickly; it might be raining where you are but sunny here.
